Chak Chak
[Iran, 2004]

The lovely Delnavaz - her name literally means "heart player" - is one of just a few thousand Zoroastrians left in Iran, photographed here at a desert fire temple named Chak Chak.
Zoroastrianism was the world's first great monotheistic religion, thought to predate even Judaism and once widely practised across the Middle East. Zoroastrians believe in one God, Ahura Mazda, and worship him through fire.
