Spissky Hrad  [Slovakia, 1995]
Spissky Hrad - seen here rising above early-morning mist - is said to be the biggest castle in Central Europe. Much of the castle was built after the devastating Mongol invasion of 1215; it burnt down in 1781 and has been a ruin ever since.
The cathedral of St Martin dominates the village of Spisske Kapitula in the foreground.
